THE ANTECEDENT OF STUDENT ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT PREDICTION


Abstract:

The research goal was set to determine to whatextent the influences of learning analytics and academicanalytics, the antecedent factors in predicting studentacademic achievement through the use of big data were. Therehas been no discussion on progress, success, retention, ordecline of this achievement. Therefore, this research hassignificance for the improvement of higher educationinstitutions. The research was in the form of online surveysinvolving 203 respondents, i.e., leaders, structural staff, andacademic advisors from each of these institutions in Pontianak.Tests of eight hypotheses were conducted through SEM-PLSMethod, and two of them had no direct influences. The resultsshow that the two antecedent factors, directly and indirectly,have different influences and significance values on studentacademic achievement prediction despite the critical roles ofbig data. In addition, results obtained through the applicationof learning analytics and academic analytics in relation to bigdata of higher education institutions, especially for the need topredict student academic achievement, are infrequently similar.
