THE INFLUENCE OF ONLINE LEARNING ON STUDENTS’ ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT: MEDIATED BY COLLABORATIVE LEARNING


Abstract:

Universities oblige to develop students’ academicachievement and to prepare for the industrial revolution 4.0.This study aims at determining the effect of online learningon students’ academic achievement towards collaborativelearning. There were 351 selected respondents of 13 (thirteen)private higher education institutions, known as STMIK, inIndonesia as the samples chosen in the proportionatestratified random sampling method. The data were collectedusing the media of google form and were analyzed in theStructural Equation Modelling (SEM) model, then wereprocessed in the Analysis of Moment Structure (AMOS). Theresults of this study indicate a positive despite a lesssignificant impact on students’ academic achievement.Meanwhile, the online learning mediated in the collaborativelearning scheme positively and significantly contributed tothe remarkable achievement of students’ academicachievement. Therefore, it is necessary for universities thesedays to manage teaching methods to develop student’sinterest in the environment of collaborative learning. Thefindings of this study are expected to support universities inimproving their online teaching process by involving studentsactively to engage in the activities.
